Official letter No. 5347/BCT-DB dated August 11th, 2023 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade regarding provision of information about updating the state of application for accession to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) of Sri Lanka

According to announcement of the ASEAN Secretariat on July 4th, 2023, Sri Lanka officially applied for accession to RCEP.

Regarding procedures for accession to RCEP, now Vietnam is coordinating with other member states to elaborate draft procedures for accession to RCEP based on the procedures for accession to WTO and refer to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) .

In principle the ASEAN members need to conduct prior internal discussion in order to adopt general viewpoint when discussing with partners on RCEP regarding application for accession to the Agreement of interested countries.
